David Malcolm Prophit

CHARLOTTE: David was born August 2, 1957 in Youngstown, OH. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and attended UNC-Charlotte.
David worked many years for Horizon Personel as well as 20 years for First Union Bank as a Customer Service Representative.
 

He was the most kind, gentle, giving person. He took care of his father, Robert A. Prophit and mother, Amy M. Prophit for the last 10-15 years of their lives.
He contracted Muscular Dystrophy in 2020 and suffered a gradual decline ending in complete dependency for care. He never complained.
 

His strong faith and support at his church, St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Charlotte and the priests, deacon, and staff gave him comfort until the end on April 15, 2025.
 

He is survived by his wife Jo, brother Bob, sister Jane (John) Blackwood, nephews, Alex, Drew and Luke, along with countless friends.
 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church by The Reverend Voitus, Celebrant. Interment will be private for the family at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
