
Jean Baltimore Strauss, 82, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Strauss Jr.; her son, Joseph A. Strauss of St. Louis, Mo.; and her parents, Thomas J. Baltimore and Annie M. Baltimore of Charlottesville, Va.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorolyn A. Strauss (Jerry Smith); sister, Brenda B. King (John); granddaughter, Alexis G. Strauss of St. Louis, Mo.; brother-in-law, Paul J. Strauss (Margaret and family); brother-in-law, Richard J. Strauss of Maryland; daughter-in-law, Diana M. Strauss of California; and very close cousins, Woodie F. Pritchett (family) and Lewis Marion.
Born on April 7, 1939, Jean grew up in Charlottesville, Va. She graduated from Albemarle High School and moved to Richmond in 1960 after she was married. She worked for State Farm Insurance in Charlottesville before moving to Richmond. After raising her children, she became a dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Grayson Fitzgerald (retired). Jean had a love for clothing and all accessories, which eventually led her to an office manager position at The Corner Closet Consignment Shop. Jean was a generous woman who loved her family, friends and laughter – she will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a memorial service to follow at 12 noon on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Bliley's Funeral Home, Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230, followed by a reception. Interment will be a later date in Charlottesville, Va. at Riverview Cemetery.
