David Spencer Peterson, 71, of Lexington, VA, passed away on February 25, 2023, from Parkinson's Disease.

He is survived by: Matthew Peterson (1970), John Peterson (1975), Ruth Peterson Sumner (1976) and predeceased by Martha Peterson Mote (1972).

David was my oldest brother, a kind and gentle soul. He was a recently retired history professor at Washington and Lee University. He graduated from the College of William and Mary (Phi Beta Kappa), had a Master's degree from the University of Edinborough, Scotland, and a Ph.D from Cornell University.
