Photo Barbara May Kelly, 70, of Charlottesville, died peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at her residence, surrounded by her mother and other family members.

Born February 20, 1937, in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of Rosa Gibson Seay of Charlottesville and the late Claude Spencer Seay. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Patrick Kelly; and a sister, Mary Edna Seay Sprouse.

Barbara worked in maintenance at Fashion Square Mall, was a graduate of Albemarle High School, and was a member of Rivanna Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her generosity and her love of music.

Surviving her are two daughters, Debra Mansfield and her husband, Jeff, of Kalona, Iowa, and Jeane Benardo and her husband, Craig, of San Diego, California; a son, Raymond Kelly Jr. of Hawaii; four sisters, Gloria LeCompte and her husband, Bob, of Woodbridge, Patricia Payne and her husband, Paul, of Charlottesville, Wanda Conrad and her husband, Walt, of Woodbridge, and Sandra Frazier and her husband, Robert, of Charlottesville; a brother, Claude Seay Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Becca, Hanna, Steve, David, and Vanessa; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Wingfield officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2007, at the funeral home.

The family expresses special thanks to Hospice of the Piedmont, University of Virginia 8 West, Region 10, Pastor Larry Wingfield; and a special niece, Rosa Foster and her husband, Kenny.
