Laura Elizabeth Griffin, age 88, of Fork Union, Va. passed away on Monday,February 13, 2017,at her home.

 

She was born onMarch 1, 1928, in Virginia to Henry Burger and Virginia Younger Rinehart.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Billy Rinehart.

 

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Hartwell Griffin, Jr.; her daughter, Ginny Griffin Perrin (Preston) of Richmond, Va.; and her friend and caregiver, Ethel Scruggs.

 

Mrs. Griffin began her career as an art teacher in the Albemarle High School and continued at the Fluvanna High School teaching English and art. She retired while teaching elementary art in Albemarle.

 

Visitation will be heldThursday, February 16, 2017, from 2 until 3:30p.m.at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, Va. The funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 2 p.m.at the Memorial Baptist Church, Columbia, Va. with the Rev. Jim Price presiding. Internment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
