The Eleventh Hour

John P. McGraw

     John Paul McGraw Sr., 73, of Charlottesville, Virginia departed this life peacefully with family gathered at his bedside on Friday, May 29, 2015. Born July 13, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Clarence Godbey and Betha Idelle Fairless. John was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Zane Christopher. John's unwavering faith gave him strength throughout his life, especially during his short battle with cancer. He often spoke of being on a walk with the Lord. His kind soul was evident to all who knew him. He made friends easily wherever he went with his charismatic personality. The greatest joy in John's life came from time spent with family. John loved the outdoors, especially boating. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing with his son, Matt. He was also a talented musician, who shared the gift of music with oldest son, John.Survived by his loving wife, Joan; his daughters, Dana Yowell and Tracy Sawyer and her husband, John; his son, John Paul McGraw Jr. and his fiancee, Laura; his youngest son, Matt McGraw; and seven precious grandchildren. All immediate family resides in Charlottesville. He also leaves behind a sister, Marilyn Evans of Weatherford, Texas.
