After graduating from Charlottetown Rural in 1984, Donald took the two year Architectural Technology program at Holland College. Upon completing the program, he began working for a local company and made a successful career there. He became well known in the trade and had a great sense for design and creativity. Donald was married in 1995 and had two children of which he was very proud. Donald fought a short battle with cancer and died in June 2011. His death was a huge loss to all who knew and loved him.
