In Memory

Holly Lorenz

Holly Lorenz

Dawn Josing let us know and we are sad to report that Holly Lorenz passed away the evening of August 17 at the UCLA Medical Center during a liver and kidney transplant. She had a liver transplant thirty years ago and it had been failing for the last couple years. Unfortunately her heart was not strong enough to survive the surgery. She leaves behind an adopted son Troy, brother Jeff and many friends.

Holly will be remembered by many in our class as the one who brought her exuberant energy and passion to organizing our 60th Birthday Bash in 2008. As the “Committee Chairperson” she was responsible for and managed a memorable program that brought us together at Bob’s Big Boy restaurant in Northridge, a Chatsworth High football game, The Sagebrush Cantina for dinner and dancing, and a Sunday picnic lunch and tour on the Chatsworth High School campus. It was an extraordinary effort and achievement and one thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.

Although you can scroll through photos of that weekend by clicking on “60th B-Bash Photos” on the left hand column of this website, here’s one in particular that captures her CHS school loyalty, sense of humor and joy in living every moment to it’s fullest. We will miss her as we celebrate our 50th Class Reunion.

I was saddened to learn of Holly's passing as well.  My husband and I sat next to her at the Reunion in Big Bear, and we learned of her health struggles BUT triamphs over them as well.  Holly looked so vibrant that night, as well as at the 60th Birthday Bash.  I will remember her energy and positiveness, and love for her dear son, Troy.  My condolences to Holly's family.

I am so sad to hear of Holly's passing.  I did not know her well in High School, but we both attended an Insight I seminar in Santa Monica in 2005, and she recognized me.  We stayed in touch for a few years, and it was because of her that I even knew there was a Chatworth High group, and that a "60th Birthday Bash" was coming up.  It was because of her that I attended, and it was wonderful to see all these people after all those years!

Holly was so generous of spirit, so joyful, so positive.  I was so looking forward to seeing her at our upcoming 50th reunion.  She made such a strong impact on me those sixteen years ago, when she reached out.  I will never forget her; it was such a gift to have reconnected.

I know that Holly loved her son Troy with all of her heart, and I send my deep condolences to him and to all her friends and family.  She was a bright spirit in the world.

I ACTUALLY KNEW HOLLY BACK IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT LIMERICK AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  SHE ALWAYS WAS SWEET, HAD THAT GREAT SMILE, AND DRESSED IMPECCABLY.  AND, SHE WAS QUITE TALL FOR HER AGE BUT CARRIED HERSELF WITH GRACE AND COMPOSURE. SHE SEEMED TO BE VERY MATURE BUT NOT AT ALL HAUGHTY.   IT SADDENS ME TO HEAR OF HER HEALTH CHALLENGES OVER THE YEARS AND HER EARLY DEATH. R.I.P. MS. LORENZE

I don't remember Holly from high school but my husband and I did attend the 60th BD Bash. I remember hearing about some of her past ailments as we we eating lunch in the sqad. Sounded like she had a lifetime of struggles, she is at peace at last. Thoughts & prayers for her and the family.

I can still hear Holly's voice and see her graceful carriage.  She was a beautiful and classy gal.  She will be missed.

I never talked to Holly during the school years, but her name stuck with me. We talked for a while at the last reunion; it was a delightful half hour. I was quite impressed.

As Sue commented above, I too remember Holly from Limerick Avenue School (and Debbie also).  I knew that Holly had endured health issues through the years as so many have.  Nonetheless, I was stunned and saddened to read of her passing.  She will always remain in the hearts of her family and those she loved.  Take care, Holly.

My condolences to Holly's extended family and son Troy, and to her friends from Limerick and Chatsworth High.  She was a tough lady, in more ways than one, but always "elegant" as so many have mentioned. RIP, Holly.

I’m so saddened by this news. Holly was a lovely spirit and she will be missed. Unfortunately we will be seeing more friends headed in this direction as the years mount up. One day at a time is all we have.
