I was in Vietnam 1970, heard that a few performers were going to put on a show in the Company area. I was just walking by and Joe ran up to me and said he knew me. I remembered him and we spent an hour laughing over a beer (?). He was definitely a showman.. It is a fond memory. Thanks Joe.
He was such a fun guy to be around, making everyone laugh! So sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathies to his wife. He will live on in the memory of those he touched with his magic and joy.
Thanks Elaine for posting this.
Joey was my neighbor when we were very young. He lived on the corner of Bryant St. and Lurline, and I lived on Bryant St. He was always into magic. I was always fascinated with his tricks. He would never tell me how he did them. I remember one time he and his friend Brett ( I think) tried to hypnotize me. Later in Jr. High he asked me to be his assistant in a show he was putting on for a dental association luncheon. So fun. His mom taught ceramics out of her studio that I made a spinning wheel planter for my mom to go with our ranch home. I still have it. I lost touch with him in high school, after graduating early from summer school at Canoga Park High. He was a great person, a lot of fun❣️
It was great to read that article and watch the video. Thanks for posting it, Elaine!
I remember Joey worked at Magic World on Topanga as well. When my sister and I were hunting for props to go on the Gong Show, he dove in with enthusiasm and helped us locate some fun stuff! He sure had a knack for drawing you in and making you smile!
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Joey . I would hang out at his house and he would try out his magic tricks and hippnotism with me. A fun guy who will be missed.
I remember watching Joey hone his magic when we were at Limerick elementry school. Always the most entertaining guy. It's nice to see what a impactfull life he led. That was a great video update. Thanks for posting. Everyone else, stay safe and healthy.
I remember Joe as a neighbor and his love Magic. One time at John Sutter Jr. High, in spanish class he tryed to and did hypotize several of our class mates, before class started. Then class started with these kids under spell. Funny then all giddyup. You will be remember for ever. RIP Joe
