How do you sum up a life? The life of my dear friend, a friend I knew for 50 years. It seems an impossible task. How do I express how much her friendship meant to me? How do I put into words the hole in my life her death has made?
Leslie’s short life was full of challenges. From the beginning she had to overcome the difficulty growing up in a home where her parents struggled with their demons. The health issues that continued throughout her life became, in the end, a vicious cycle of doctors, surgery, and medications. I know the joy in her life came from her family; husband Paul, son Matthew, daughter Jeannine and her grandchildren, Rebecca, Hannah, Amanda & Tim. They were everything to her.
This caring woman took into her life everyone in need, no questions asked.
The never ending string of exchange students, foster children and all in need that came and went from the loving home of my dear friend Leslie are too numerous to list.
I always knew that when I felt down a call to Leslie would cheer me up. No matter how long it had been since we spoke we just picked right up like we had never missed a day.
Leslie was the sister of my heart. I have been enriched by her influence and made a better person for knowing her. I will always remember Leslie’s beautiful face, stinging wit, and infectious laugh.

What a wonderful letter that you wrote about your dear friend.
It made me feel like I knew her in HIgh School.
