Stanley E. Cope, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 26, 2021. He was 72 years old.

He was a longtime member of the East Ridge church of Christ where he served as deacon since 2016. Stan gave his life to Christ in November of 1993 and loved sharing his faith and testimony with others. A natural handyman, Stan could often be found at the church completing numerous projects and renovations. If the need was mentioned it, he made a point to get it done never wanting any recognition. As an active member in the church, he worked on two mission trips in Nicaragua and one in Panama.

Stan was married to the love of his life, Yvonne, for over 50 years. Together they had three daughters and Stan enjoyed being a dad, coach and tutor. Stan and Yvonne also had twins who didn’t survive birth on 12/7/1977.

Stan was a 1966 graduate of Chattanooga City High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1968 and was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base. During his service he served in Thailand and traveled the world. He and Yvonne lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida where their oldest daughter, Christie, was born. After the Air Force, Stan and Yvonne moved back to their hometown of Chattanooga where Stan began working for Mueller Company. He retired 36 years later in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Morgan; and brothers, Scotty M. Cope and Roy L. Cope.

Sorry to hear about Stanley.  We were friends in school even though we didn't share many classes. I remember him as a quiet person, a pretty good athlete, and I never heard anyone say anything negative about him.

I only had one contact with him after graduation in the early 90's. He ran a business, and I happened to be needing some work done associated with the the field he was in. A good person.
