Susie Burns Owens

I am Carolyn Sue Burns Owens, I grew up on Cameron Hill. We moved there in 1948, I went to school at H. Clay Evans Elementary I went to jr high at Dickinson. I started 10th grade at Kirkman. One of my teachers Miss Ziegler came from Dickinson to Kirkman when they closed Dickinson She was my gym and dance teacher there and I was glad when she became my dance teacher again at Kirkman.


In 1959 the city started tearing down Cameron hill to put 124 freeway through the city, we had to sell our home and move. I married Bill Owens from Tiftonia in 59, he worked in outdoor advertising billboards and such while I went to school. We had 4 kids 5 yrs and under by that time Bill had learned the heating and air conditioning trade, we opened Bill Owens HTG and Air Inc in 1979.

Our two sons after getting out of the marines and national guard went to work for us. Our first daughter in a physical therapist in Pensacola and your youngest daughter retired from the navy she now works for our company we have 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.


Bill retired in June 2006 and I retired in June 2007. July 7th will be our 52nd anniversary while we have lived most of our married life in and around Red Bank but the last 8 years we bought 13 1/2 acres in Soddy Daisy .
