It has been a long time since our high school years. It is difficult to believe that life passes us by so swiftly.

During my senior year, I went to class the first half of the school day and then to work the second half of the school day. Therefore, I wasn’t involved in any sports or other school activities.

My school buddies were: Bill Long, Jimmy Bailey, Jimmy Web, Clarence McDowell. Bill Long and I are still close friends. He and his wife occasionally meet my wife and I for dinner. We also travel together and participate in various car shows/rod runs each year.

Mr. Joseph Frazier and Billy Barlew were my favorite teachers. Mr. Frazier actually got me the job that I worked at during my senior school year.

My wife (Judy Cyree) and I met in 1961 at church during a young people’s activity. We dated for about one year and were married in June of 1962. We will celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2012. We have one son, our only child, in whom we are very proud and two wonderful grandsons.

Judy retired in June 2004 after 34 years of service with TVA. I am now retired, but was employed at several different company’s during my career. I worked for twelve and a half years at the local 3M Company (old American Lava Co.). Mr. Frazier helped me obtain that job also. During my employment at 3M, I attended evening school at Chattanooga State Tech. After my graduation in 1976 went to work at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). During my employment at TVA I continued my education by taken evening classes at the University of Chattanooga.

I worked 29 and a half years with TVA and semi-retired in January 2005. My position at retirement was Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. My responsibilities during my employment were the inspection, maintenance, repair and or modification of the flood control equipment and the intake and discharge equipment of the power generation units at the TVA dams. In July 2005 I went back to work at TVA as a consultant contractor for about 19 months and then fully retired in March 2007.

My hobbies and interest are handyman and honey do jobs around the house. My other hobby is street rods. I am a member of the NSRA (National Street Rod Association) and have a 1931 Ford Sedan Street Rod that took eight years to build. Judy and I, well maybe just I, enjoy driving the street rod to various NSRA national car shows and local car club cruise-ins. Judy enjoys getting to shop during these events.

I am not on any social network.
