Hello-- I jumped from Kirkman Tech, (or, should I say I escaped from "Boone Hysinger?" That would be more correct.) right into the Navy in the fall of '60- so didn't quite make it to graduation.
I Did my basic training in San Diego, and from there I was stationed at Corpus Christy, Texas, in the MAA office for a few months as a brig chaser, and then the weather office for almost two years. There I completed HS and 1 yr college equiv. I was then transfered to Navel Station Midway Island untill my mustering out at Treasure Island in San Francisco In '63.
After my tour, I settled in the high desert of So. California, Apple Valley, where I met Alice, to whom I am still married after 46 years. (Two daughters and three grandsons.)
I got my Degree in construction technology from our local communitee college and retired from the HVAC, construction industry.
On trips back to visit with family, I was surprised to see that Kirkman had been demolished.
I try to get back at least once a year, usually around May or June, sometimes more, to visit Dad and my brother and sisters who still live in East Chattanooga and Rossville, Ga
My favorite hobbies: Hunting, camping, building accurate rifles, reloading my own ammo, target shooting, and more receintly Geocaching.
Jim
PS: The teachers I got the most from was the Apperson's and The Sheet Metal teacher Mr. Mayo.
My trips back to the Chattanooga has changed since my Dad passed away in Jan of '10,
but hopfully, since Alice has also retired we will be putting some cross country miles on the Motor Home.
