David Lickiss

Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer David Lickiss, 72, of Woodbridge, Virginia passed away on March 10, 2013. David Lickiss was born in Quimby, Iowa on July 30, 1940 and was raised in Cherokee, Iowa. David was a proud member of Washington High School's class of 1958. He served 20 years in the United States Army with tours in Korea and Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star. Following his military service David worked for Burke and Herbert Bank for 24 years. He also served as a Prince William County School Crossing Guard from 2002 to 2008. After retirement, David became an active volunteer in the Woodbridge community. David is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Lickiss; mother, Audrey Lickiss; brothers, Edward and James Lickiss; and son, Michael Lickiss. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Lickiss; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Becky Lickiss; step-children, Gary Cook and Anita Hacker; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. The family will be receiving visitors Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Woodbridge, Virginia. A funeral service will be held at First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City in Woodbridge, Virginia on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America.
