Nicholas Speros "Nick" Gikas, 56, of 2139 Valkyrie Court N.W., Rochester, Minnesota, passed away at his home of cancer after a two-year illness. Memorial services were held Thursday, October 24, 1996 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The body was cremated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Macken Funeral Home.

Mr. Gikas was born August 10, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa and lived in Sioux City alld Cherokee, Iowa before moving to Rochester ill 1960. He graduated from high school in Cherokee in 1958 and his parents owned and operated the Soda Grill restaurant in Cherokee. In 1961 he married Janice Ellstrom at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester. He was a hotel owner and real estate manager and his wife was a homemaker. Survivors include his wife; three sons: Anthony N. and Jay N., both of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Tony S. of Rochester; one grandchild; and a sister, Marika Hochberger, Oxnard, California. His parents preceded him in death. Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit Parish or Lourdes High School.
