Patty White (Menke) Ballantyne, 73 of Sioux City, IA died on March 28, 2013.  A Life Celebration took place on Sat. April 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Maple Heights Community Room in Sioux City.  Arrangements were by Waterbury Funeral Home of Sergeant Bluff, IA.

Patty was born on October 3, 1939 in Hollywood, CA. To Darrell and Edna White.  Patty was the oldest of five children.

Patty graduated from Washington High School-Cherokee, IA in 1958.  She married Dale D. Menke on June 15, 1958 and moved to Sac City, IA then later moved back to Cherokee, where she had two daughters, Christy and Cindy.

Patty worked at Swezy’s Hamburger Shop until attending LPN school in 1968 in Cherokee.  After graduation she began working at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee.  In 1974 she went back to nursing school and graduated from Western Iowa Tech as a RN and returned to Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital where she worked in O.B. for many years.

Patty and Dale enjoyed raising foster sons.

After the passing of her husband, Dale on May 31, 1983, Patty married Walter F. Ballantyne on September 22, 1985.  They continued to raise foster sons.  They enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends before Walter passed away on August 7, 1987.  After a number of years, Patty moved to Marshall, MO where she worked as a RN in O.B. for Fitzgibbon Memorial Hospital.  While living in Marshall, Patty enjoyed traveling to many different places, taking care of her mom Edna and helping at Church.  She retired from nursing at Fitzgibbon’s in August 2006.

In May of 2009, she moved to Sioux City, IA so she could nanny for two of her great-grand daughters.  She also enjoyed watching all kinds of racing sports, traveling, and taking care of her cat, Cupcake.

Survivors include her two daughters, Christy Barnes (Wayne) of Sioux City and Cindy Meister (Lonnie) of Spencer; brother Roger White (Mary) of Liberty, MO; sister, Jean Jenness (Tom) of Cherokee; seven grand children and their spouses; nine great-grand children; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her father, mother, husbands, and two brothers, Keith and Darrell, preceded her in death.
