Richard “Dick” Duncan Oster, 72, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital in Johnstown, Colorado, while rehabbing from a serious neck surgery. He was born on July 30, 1952, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Ralph and Ellen Louise Oster.

Dick was a member of the Wyoming Air National Guard and worked in insurance and real estate at Continental Insurance in Denver, Colorado, Wallick and Volk Insurance, Rocky Mountain Federal Insurance, and Hi-Country Insurance and Realty World in Cheyenne after completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Wyoming in 1975. He also owned and managed real estate. Dick was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and harvested “The Wyoming Grand Slam” of a black bear, moose, mountain goat, an Big Horn sheep. His Wyoming Shiras moose was a giant and #9 in the world (Boone and Crockett) when harvested in 1985. Dick and his father Ralph loved and collected classic Cadillac convertibles. Dick loved traveling, camping, and music. He played saxophone in the Cheyenne Central marching band and graduated in the Central Class of 1970.

He is survived by sons Russell Oster (Amy) and Rodney Oster (Mary) and eight grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Linda Dorr. A graveside service in memory of Richard Duncan Oster will take place on June 20, 2025, at Cheyenne Lakeview Cemetery. Following the service, a celebration of life will be held at The Office Bar and Grill, where friends and family can gather to honor and remember Dick’s life.
