Roger Ray Henson Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Roger Ray Henson of La Vista, Nebraska, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 4, 2025 at the age of 72 of vascular dementia. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Roger Ray Henson to pay them a last tribute.

As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Roger Ray may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.

The following information was provided by Rpger's friend Dan Moede (1970 EHS classmate) and Roger’s wife Valerie. July 2025

Roger Henson graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Civil Engineering. He started working for the City of Cheyenne Engineering Department, then headed east, ending up in the Omaha area where he worked with Peter Kiewit, a civil engineering firm involved in water/wastewater, commercial building projects, oil/gas/chemical, power generators, industry projects, transportation, etc. From there, he went to McDonnell-Douglas, developers of stealth technology; advanced military aircraft development; missile systems; and other classified programs. It was at McDonnell-Douglas that Roger got into computer science and had top security clearance. He then worked for Raytheon, a global aerospace and defense company where he continued working with computers and had top security clearance. Roger ended his career at West Corporation, a national client-focused, full-service real estate property management firm.

Roger’s cremains were given to the Neptune Society to be commingled with a specialized type of cement. The finished product has been deployed about 3.25 miles off the Florida coast, becoming an artificial reef designed to look like an artist’s vision of the Lost City of Atlantis, creating a new habitat for sea life.

Wasn't Roger's dad a teacher at one of the schools in Cheyenne, Wyo? I remember him and his family lived next door to my grandparents, C. H. and Helen Browne.
