Glen M. Porter

Glen Milo Porter

1951-2010

Glen Milo Porter, 58, died Oct. 5, 2010, in Glendale, Ariz.

He was born Oct. 14, 1951, in Cheyenne and attended school here, graduating from Cheyenne's East High in 1970. He was the fifth of six children born to Robert and Doris Porter.

Mr. Porter enjoyed adventure, hunting in the mountains, traveling the highways and byways on his 1998 Harley, a safari in Africa and fishing lakes and oceans. He made it to the land of his heritage, Ireland, to kiss the Blarney Stone.

He was owner operator of United Floor Covering and Interiors Inc. in Glendale since 1982.

He also sponsored a dirt track racing car.

He is survived by his wife, April, and her children, Molly, Julia and John in Arizona; his children, Christy Waechtler and Bryan Porter of Utah; eight grandchildren: Trevor, Abbey, Kyra and Jacob in Utah and Houghton, Mary, Simon and Mateo in Arizona; his mother, Doris (Porter) Crom; stepfather, Walter Crom; a brother, Larry Porter; three sisters, Shirley Swearengin, June Dunn (Larry) and Mickey Thrift; stepbrothers, Alden and Loyd Crom, all of Cheyenne; many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Preceding Glen in death is his father, Robert Porter; brother, Dale Porter; a brother-in-law; and Gary Swearengin; grandparents. Iola and Glen Porter and Icle and Milo Conley.

A quote from a dear friend "Dusty" in Glendale, "Glen was a man of few words and a huge heart."

Vigil for the deceased will be 6 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with Father Ray Moss officiating.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Ray Moss as Celebrant.

The interment of his urn will take place in Olivet Cemetery. Cremation has taken place in Glendale.

I remember Glen verry well. We both worked a Big "D" Foods on Lincolnway in Cheyenne, Wyo back in 1969-1971. I believe he worked produce and myself was in stocking, grocery dept. Don "Boogy" Bogensberger was the manager. Gary Tealander was an Ass't and Bill Brather another assistant manager. Irene Novick also worked there. Jimmy Braden was a friend of Glen's

 I heard about Glens passing but could never find an obituary for him until today 10/5/2024 over 10 years ago.
