Rob was born November 3, 1965 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Robert Eugene Hahn, Sr and Karin (Paul) Krause. He graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1984 and University of Wyoming in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Rob served honorably in the U.S. Army in 1985-1988. Rob made his home in Alaska from 1994-2004 and again from 2006-2014 living in Anchorage, Eagle River, Peters Creek/Chugiak. He was employed with Tryck, Nyman, Hayes in Anchorage from 1994 - 2000. Rob married Kelly Wright on July 6, 2002. The couple welcomed daughter, Emma in 2004 and son, Dillon in 2008. He was employed with the Alaska Railroad Corporation as a professional land surveyor and civil engineer.

Mr. Hahn was a member of the Community Covenant Church of Eagle River and ASPLS. Rob was a loving husband and a devoted father. He loved teaching his children and watching them grow and explore. He was happiest while camping and fishing with his family or good friends. He loved the challenge of hunting and fishing to provide for his family.

His family wrote: "Rob faced his diagnosis head on and fought with everything he had to stay with Kelly, Emma and Dillon. He showed constant courage and grace though it all. When it became certain that the battle was lost, he faced death as he did everything else in life, with determination to do it right. He was at home for last moments with his children, wife, family and friends. Rob slept peacefully as his wife and four closest friends shared stories of his life, surrounding him with love and laughter. This cancer never stole his dignity, in that sense, he won his battle."
