Services for Douglas Horton Chick, 64, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas, with Jessie Brandon officiating. A graveside service will be held at Meadowbrook Garden Cemetery in Paris, Texas, at 3:30 p.m.

Mr. Chick passed away at home in Canton on September 30, 2019. He was born on December 9, 1954, in Sherman, Texas, to Lou Allen and Irene Marsh Chick. When Douglas and his twin brother, David, were about 1 1/2 years old when the family moved to Paris, Texas, and then to Cheyenne, Wyoming, when he was 15 years old.

Douglas was a boy scout and a competitive swimmer and diver growing up. He was a veteran of the USAF and could identify any aircraft he saw. Douglas enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, doing puzzles and yardwork. He was a "gopher-na-tor" when it came to his yard. When not working in the yard, you could find him watching every sports game on tv at the same time. Doug really loved his cat, Bitty Bop and recently adopted another cat, "Lil Bit".

He is survived by his wife, Shelley Denise Chick; stepsons, Michael and Amy Nantz, Marshall and Amanda Hatcher, Craig Nantz and T. C. Dobson; sisters, Lou Ellen and Jan DeMott, and Jennan and Larry Swafford; nieces, Janna and Andy Stubbs, and Casey and Tal Thevenot; nephews, Mark and Lynsey DeMott, and Jeffrey and Tina Cook; five grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Lou Allen and Irene Chick and his twin brother, David Chick.

Obituary published online by Eubank Funeral Home, Canton, Texas.

I remember when Doug arrived at school his first day.  He walked into class like he owned the place.  He was very charismatic and so cute!! Not a shy bone in his body.
