J. Stu Willis

Stu Willis of Boulder, Colorado passed away on November 21, 2015 due to a head injury from a fall while working on a race car he was building.  He is survived by his wife Patti, his sister Penney and two nephews Brett and Dirk, and three daughters in Florida from his first wife.

Stu was an Optical Mechanical Engineer working for Ball Aerospace in Boulder, Co where he and his team developed the first ever set of optics to be used on the Hubble Telescope. He was also an accomplished drummer and very much liked hot cars. He and childhood friend Keith Adams built their first cars together as juniors at Cheyenne East High School (Stu had a 65 Mustang and Keith a 55 Ford - both with hot engines.) They saw their first major concert together in Denver at DU when Joe Walsh and the James Gang played and where they were offered to smoke blueberry incense by the stoner next to them. Keith writes:  "Stu was my oldest friend and I dearly miss him.  RIP."
