After Schurz, I graduated from Wright Jr. College with an Associate of Arts Degree. For the next five years, I worked in downtown Chicago where I had very interesting and rewarding jobs that included positions as legal and executive secretary in law and stock brokerage firms. (It was here that I arranged Institutional Investment Seminars with great guest speakers such as Henry Kissinger and Bill Moyers.) I married in 1967 and moved to Alexandria, Virginia, when my husband, Jim, an officer in the U. S. Coast Guard, was stationed at headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was a great place to live and where my children Phil and Melissa were born. After Jim's tour of duty ended, we moved to Naperville, Illinois, and lived there for 30 years! I was active in the community and returned to work for another 6 years. Jim's jobs came with opportunities for us to travel in the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico, Europe and Japan. Great trips.

In 2000, we built a house in Batavia, Illinois, where we now mostly "manage our disabilities." And life goes on!
