
Gerald Rataj of West Chicago A funeral Mass for Gerald Rataj, 68, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main St., St. Charles. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Winfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St. (corner of Route 64 and Route 25), St. Charles. Born July 30, 1942, in Chicago, to Stephen and Jean Rataj, he died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at his home in West Chicago. After graduating from Weber High School, Gerald joined the
Army and served in Korea during peace time. After coming home from the service he married Patricia "Patsy" Rudny and they began raising their family in Chicago. In 1971, the family moved to Addison, until 1986, when they made their home in West Chicago. While raising a family and working for McMaster Carr for over 35 years, he attended Elmhurst College and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business management. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (William) Hemauer of Woodstock, Deborah (David) Mann of West Chicago and Sandra (Edward) Borgstrom of West Chicago; grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy and Jason Mann, Ryan and Nathan Borgstrom; and sisters, Patricia Rattay of Chicago and Linda (Donald) Warren of West Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patsy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
