Royal Edward "Ed" Spurlark III, age 49, passed away suddenly on Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 while traveling on business. Currently a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, Ed grew up in Chicago, attending Kenwood High School (Class of 1972). Beloved husband of Miriam Hernandez Spurlark; dear father of Royal IV and Alice Enid of Silver Spring; devoted son of Sara L. Spurlark of Chicago; adored brother of Susan Spurlark Kennedy of Oakland, CA and Aurelia Spurlark of Chicago. Arrangements and direction in Chicago entrusted to Cage Memorial Chapel, 7651 S. Jeffery Blvd. Viewing Friday, Oct. 24 from 3 until 7 p.m. at the chapel. Services will be on Saturday, Oct. 25 at First Presbyterian Church, 6400 S. Kimbark Ave. Visitation at 12 noon, Service at 1 p.m. Interment immediately following the service at Oak Woods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Omega Psi Phi Scholarship and Tutoring Programs.
