Re: 70's Playlist

There are so many songs from the 70's that I love.  One that instantly takes me back to Lane when I hear it is The Boys Are Back in Town, and of course Dancing in the Moonlight takes me back to prom!

We never got to see our prom pictures since they were always published in the subsequent year.  These are in the 1977 yearbook.  Recognize anyone?

I can't believe the first song that came to my mind isn't on John Todesco's list! It was The Locomotion by the Grand Funk Railroad. A group of us (Nancy Cheng, Mark Heineman, Steve Petronijevic and myself) used to sing that song in sophomore year drafting, when we were all caught up designing our dream home!

Oh Miss Nancy Cheng would want to hear some Ohio Players too... like Love Rollercoaster and Fire.  I bet she still remembers the routines!  Where are all the '76  Poms gals?

I wanted to give everyone an update on our upcoming 40th Reunion which is now only a month away. Last night some of us on the reunion committee met at the Ridgemoor Country Club to check out the facilities and plan the party. I've never been there before but it was easy to find and easy to park. The facilities are beautiful. We have 2 large rooms which will include tables for eating dinner, high boys for cocktails and couches for those who don't want to stand. We're planning a slide show of old photos, music (and dancing) from the 70's and lots of memorabelia to make things more fun. We'll also have an outdoor covered terrace just off the bar area for those who want some fresh air.

I want to encourage everyone to sign up. I know it's difficult to come to these things after so many years so if you have contact with an old classmate, invite them along. Even if you don't know anyone, our time at Lane was special and we're really all friends after living through that time! Since we only do this every 10 years, who knows where you'll be when you're 68. After 40 years, we all have grey hair (or no hair) and more baggage than we care to admit. So come on out for some fun and reminiscing. We also have a great menu for dinner, drinks and a special dessert that only Lanites can appreciate. Hope to see you there.

Like many of you, I seem to be scattered across the country at any given point in time.  I'm very much hoping to be able to attend both the school tour and the party.

There are a few things however, that need to come together in order for that to happen. I'm not going to list them here but I imagine many others are in the same boat, trying to get things worked out so as to be able to attend.

If you're in this same situation, do your best - I'm going to try.  76' really was a bit of a unique graduating class.  Am I correct in saying that in 72' when we were freshmen, that was the first year girls were admitted to Lane?

Patricia Hodge (Hanes)

I'm pretty sure we were the first class to have girls all 4 years..  Others were admitted as sophmores and juniors the year before.

Everyone's favorite Electric Shop teacher, Mr. Simon!
