Okay... just showed the list to my 25-year-old and not a single one resonated with him! I thought at least the mood ring would sound familiar. Sigh... they missed all the good stuff... including space food sticks and the spicy meatball!
Ken, I think my 23 year old knows one on your list and that is because he played with Hot Wheels when he was young. That's a good list and it brings back good memories.
"Animal Stories" with Uncle Larry Lujack....I still laugh at remembering "Uncle Larry" described the outcome of how the animals survived or didn't.......
Nice sentiment, Don! Yes, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!
Ken, loved the birthday calculation post and your list. I was one of the 80%, and I sometimes pay attention to those numerology thingies. Like Golden Birthdays, which my understanding was when you turned the age of your birthdate, e.g. 23 on the 23rd. The calendar no longer supports that for any of us in Class of '76!
Update to Bob Hashimoto and John Simmers: Isaac graduated MCRD SD on 2/3/17 and MCT-SOI on 3/14/17. We saw him off to Ft. Lejeune where he thinks he'll have a month wait before his MOS training begins. He got his preferred MOS - I don't know the number, but it's combat engineer. Right now, the military appears to be the right fit for Isaac. I'll reevaluate when he's deployed...which I try not to think about.
A while back I listed some things I remembered back in the day. So recently I looked at a few websites that showed some fads of the 70's. Here is one that listed a few:

So, one thing on that list I forgot about last time was "streaking" and the reason I bring it up is because I think there were a couple of "streaker" incidents while we were at Lane. Do any of you remember if this was true?
Yes. I'm pretty sure this happened a couple of times when we were underclassmen. I believe this happened at least once during a football game.By the time we were juniors and seniors, we were cooler than that. NOT!!!
OMG - I was there ... I was standing in the aisle and they rushed past me. My buddies thought it was hysterical and it was. My view was their backsides, my buddies got the full frontal onslaught. The teacher went nuts but they were gone...in a flash! I must say they were buff! lol...
At the store --- ♫ ♫ I was standin' over there by the tomaters, and here he come, running through the pole beans, through the fruits and vegetables, nekkid as a jay bird. And I hollered over t' Ethel, I said, "DON’T LOOK, ETHEL!" But 'twas too late, she'd already been incensed. ♫ ♫ ...
At the gas station ---- ♫ ♫ I was just in thar tryin' to get some air in my tire thar, and, he just appeared out of the traffic. Come streakin' around the grease rack there, didn't have nothin' on but a smile. I looked in there, and Ethel was gettin' her a cold drink. I hollered, "DON'T LOOK ETHEL!!!" But 'twas too late. She'd already been mooned. Flashed her right there in front of the shock absorbers. ♫ ♫ ... and ....
At the basketball-game --- ♫ ♫ at half time, I was just goin' down thar to get Ethel a snow cone. And here he come, right out of the cheap seats, dribbling, right down the middle of the court. Didn't have on nothing but his high-top Reeboks. Made a hook shot and got out through the concessions stand. I hollered up at Ethel, I said, "DON'T LOOK ETHEL!!!!" But 'twas too late. She'd already got a free shot. Grandstandin', right there in front of the home team. ♫ ♫
If you don't remember 'bout poor Ethel, or, if you just haven't heard it in awhile ---- here's the whole thing ...
This is from the Class of 1976 Reunion in Rosemont,Il. from 1997. I found this picture while going through some architectural drawings I did. I had to piece this together since it was too big for my scanner. I also put it on Facebook to be tagged. Maybe we can find more from our class out there. Who can name the most people in this? I'm in the second row from the top smack dab in the middle wearing a blue checked shirt. Frank Styzek is to my left. Let me know if you'd like original e-mailed or sent to your facebook page. knorum2001@yahoo.com
I was really impressed with all the comments about the Lane "streaking" incident.
Michelle - I am so glad you have access to the "vault", and can dig up these Lane archives. Way to go.
John - Great reference to "The Streak" video by Ray Stevens. I have not seen that in forever. My other favorite Ray Stevens song/video is the "Guitarzan" one shown here:

Robert - Pulling out the "Categorically Denial" card, hey? Well.....since it was too early to get any hits on the U-tube search for "R. Cole streaking at Lane" videos, I guess I will have to get my peeps to search for any old "super-8" films that may turn up.
Debbie - So you were a true "eyewitness" to the event? The best I can remember about that event was that I was in the cafeteria that morning and noticed a commotion, but I was away from the action. When I asked around, I was told that there were some streakers that ran through the area.
I have never streaked, but I did do the Tom Cruise "I like that old fashioned rock and roll" performance he did in "Risky Business" (with the same "ahem" outfit he wore).I cannot do the "neither confirm or deny" statement as my best friend growing up has a photo of me in the act. I did not know he had a photo of it until I visited him in Houston last year and he showed it to me (along with some other "priceless" old photos).
Hey Bicentennials! The annual Alumni Night at Wrigley is on for May 17th against the Reds. Tickets went on sale yesterday and we have sold nearly half of the 400 we have available already. If you plan on attending, buy your tickets soon. I think we'll be sold out before the end of the week. Zoiks!
