Lee Borden passed away in April, 1985 having battled cancer for 2 and a half years. After graduation from New Trier, Lee attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he played on the tennis team. He then went to law school at the Univ. of Florida, was accepted into Florida Blue Key, and graduated in 1970. Lee and I got married in 1968 and after law school graduation we moved to Washington, DC where Lee was a lawyer for the Interstate Commerce Commission. We have 2 children, Ashley and Cris, both born in DC. In 1974 we moved back to Glencoe where Lee worked for Fiber Bond Corporation, Berkey Photo, then opened his own athletic stores, The Complete Athlete.

Prior to becoming ill, Lee was instrumental in creating and starting the Chicago Triathelon! Of course that competition still continues today.

Lee was my closest friend growing up and remained so until the day he died. He was so young when he came to New York for extensive cancer treatment including multiple surgeries and he convalesced with my wife and I for many weeks afterward in Roslyn. He showed remarkable good humor and courage during his recovery and returned to Chicago strong again but he knew he was not cancer-free and never would be. When his illness returned my wife and I travelled many times to Evanston sometimes separately to spend time with him. He was leaving way too soon but there was no anger or bitterness in him and he was awake and aware right to the end. He was very brave.
