Barbara passed away from cancer a few years ago in the Chicago area. So sad. I remember her so well, from our good times with Fifi Kaufmann planning the talent show, and many other long telephone calls and teenage adventures. IBarbara was the star in Annie Get Your Horse -- remember, Miss Kinchloe outlawed guns in the show as politically incorrect. I remember we would ride our bikes all over South Shore. I remember being envious of Barbara's pastel angora sweaters with matching skirts --- several sets in several colors! She was also the best doodler in South Shore. My yearbook entry from Barbara covers a couple of pages! So talented a writer and an artist as well. I remember when I made Barbara and Marty co-editors of the Shore Line senior year as my successors. They would have knock down drag out arguments, but together did a great job!
I didn't know Barbara well but seeing her picture and reading Jane's comments about her brought back a stream of memories. I think this process is good for all of us.
I knew her most of my life. Most recently I used to see her at Orchestra Hall. We danced together at a party at Ricky Deutsch's house our senior year. She had a heart of gold. She always cared about other people.
