Valerie was my lockermate freshman year. She was very quiet and I never got to know her well. I am glad to read that she had such a good life with so many friends.
Valerie was a lifelong friend. During our South Shore days, we lived one block from each other on Merrill Avenue. Even after I relocated to California in 1984 (she helped me make the cross country drive), we continued to stay in touch and had a good visit every couple of years. Her friendship was invaluable and I miss her humor, wit and passion for all things Chicago.

I'm sorry to find out about Valerie only after she died.
