Dick Houchin

Per Social Security Death Index Search 1/3/09:

Born:  3/22/71

Died:  2/10/98

Per email 1/6/09 from former Chico High AG teacher & FFA leader David Wemp:  “Dick was killed in an auto accident, car vs horse.  There was an FFA award to an FFA Parli Pro member that exemplified Dick’s spirit as a Parli Pro Team Member.

Dick was a very active FFA member my first 3 years as a Chico AG Teacher.  He was an Officer, Parli Pro Team Member, State FFA Degree, showed lambs and raised bees.  He was a very nice person which he learned from his parents.  He was active in his church as a youth leader.  He was respected by his fellow students and teachers and is greatly missed.  I consider him a friend and visited him long after his graduation.  It was a sad day when he passed.”

Who can forget that old model A Ford Dick drove to school.

I was sad to hear of his passing and was out of the area when it occurred.

Dick and I competed together on the Parli-Pro team and made the state finals in Fresno. It was alot of fun and he was one of nicest guys you would have ever met.

I am sad to hear of Dick's passing. We were in FFA together and competed on the Parli-Pro team. He would pick me up for Parli-Pro practice in his Ford Model T. Many of my neighbors would get excited to see such an old car! They would watch us as we drove down my street. Dick was a very sweet person!

Dick was an amazing guy. We spent a number of years together competing in Parli Pro, showing livestock and building stuff in shop class!! I remember him as a very nice guy who was always willing to help out.
