Bruce Vlasoff

Born February 15, 1950 in San Francisco, California.

Bruce attended Chico schools and graduated in 1969 from Chico Senior High.

He attended Sierra College in Rocklin, California and received an AA degree in Forestry.

He served in the US Navy for 4 years working in communications. Bruce was stationed in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, Western Australia near Perth and Bremerton, Washington.

Bruce enjoy travel and visited Canada, Sydney, Australia and before the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia.

He worked as a firefighter for the Cal Fire and for the US Forest Service in the Plumas National Forest. He was a member of the Plumas Hotshots. Hotshot crews are considered the most highly trained, skilled and experienced wildland firefighters. He spoke often of his experience on the 1988 Yellowstone National Park fire. Bruce retired after 20 years of service with a US Forest Service.

Bruce passed away on August 15, 2019 in Chico, California.
