Harold (Hal) Jones was born in Bluefield, West Virginia and grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio. Hal (Harold) enjoyed the active life, hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
His love of service began when he was young. He longed to see the world so he joined the US Air Force, beginning as a navigator and ultimately flying airplanes, jets and helicopters.
He flew over 300 rescue missions in Vietnam and the United States, with his favorite assignment in Germany EUCOM (European Combined Military Command Europe) Special Operations. He met his second wife, Barbara, at EUCOM and in 1989 was married in chapel Hohenzollern castle near Stuttgart Germany. As the SOCEUR commander he went to the U.S. Navy jump school at 45 and discovered a new love.
His military retirement move was to Seattle WA, 1993, where he began his 32-year career at the Veterans Administration Puget Sound, providing support in the research department. He and Barbara enjoyed many travels and activities until settling in their home in West Seattle.
Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his two children, Michael Lee Jones (wife Carissa) and Stephanie Jones Creasey (Erin), his grandsons, Kyle Dean Pryne and Casey Michael Pryne and nieces/nephews in U.S. and Canada.
