David "Pop" E. Downing, age 71, of Saint Louisvlle, Ohio, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.

David was born in Loraine, Ohio to the late Earl & Leona (Snyder) Downing on December 4, 1944. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca S. (Black) Downing; brothers, Ronald (Yvonne) Downing of Dayton, Ohio & Michael (Marcy) Downing of Nashville, TN: sister, Diana Shoemaker of Jacksonville, AR; children, Kari (Richard) Kelly, Bridget Perry, Nikki Perry, David Perry, Jr.; mother-in-law, Frances G Black, & many other in-laws. David also leaves behind his grandchildren & special buddies, Kayley Singleton, Makayla Kelly & Nathan Perry: and special friends, Daniel Baker, Tony Black, & Rusty Allspaugh: many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard & Robert Downing: sister Yvonne "Bonnie" (Downing) Lane & special friend, Clyde Peairs.

David, a man of faith, was a captain in the US Marine Corps, & proudly served his country during Vietnam.

A service was held for David on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Brucker Kishler  Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, OH at 2 pm. Family greeted friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was held at a later date at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
