Update 8/5/11 On 7/7 I was admitted to ER at a Dayton hospital because I couldn't breathe & spent 11 days in cardiac ICU. No one, including my daughter, expected me to live. I had 2 chest tubes put in early on the 8th then had another surgery on the 14th. Since there is a catheter around my left lung, pulling fluid off 3 times a week we will repeat the process they did on the 14th on the left side. All I can say is that the Lord kept me alive, one more time, on the 7th & 8th, He carried me and guided the surgical teams hands! As one nurse said "you are my miracle child because you shouldn't have lived". God isn't done with me yet!!!!!
Melissa is going in the Army on Nov 7 as an E4 & after basic training in Missouri and EMT training in San Antonio she will be getting 4 years of on the job training in Army hospitals so she can get her RN!! I'm proud of her, but I also worry.......
I've lived in a few places..Los Altos, CA; Columbus, OH; Amarillo, TX; Big Spring, TX; Rochester, NY; Washington DC; Cincinnati, OH; Orlando, FL; Kissimmee, FL; Auburndale, FL; and now Dayton OH!!
I have three grandchildren: Melissa is almost 24 and works as an LPN in Loveland, OH. Stephen is 21 & trying to get work on a river barge.. Tayler turned 18 in Jan. and begins studies at Cincinnati State next month, majoring in nursing. My daughter, Cathy, is an RN in the Ambulatory unit at Bethesda North Hospital, in Montgomery, OH and my son-in-law drives a truck in the local area.
I'm retired thanks to the latest fight with cancer and the side effects of the chemo!
During my 15 years in Florida I got involved in Greyhound rescue and miss the group I was with. Should get into a group here, but I'd be too tempted to foster one or two! As it is I have my own Greyhound, Cruiser, who was 11 in July..he's quite the Mommy's Boy and is (as are most Greyhounds)a "velcro" dog! Missy the Mutt will be 10...Danny adopted her for my birthday in 2001 but Missy adopted Danny & was quite the Daddy's Girl. My two cats are from the same litter and they were 11 in Feb.
In just a few days...March 20 2008...seven of us from the church I belong to, in Loveland, OH, are going to Senegal, West Africa on a 10 day mission trip! We are the first the church has sent out and hopefully we won't be the last. I'm very excited to be able to do this and expect to come back with a whole new perspective on life and what we do with it, AND what we CAN do with it. Naturally we expect to do a lot of sightseeing and shopping during our "off" times!
