Last night, I was able to attend the 1st Annual Christiansburg Alumni Return (CAR) gathering.   It was really a lot of fun and I was able to reconnect from several old friends from other classes as well as meeting up with past teachers and administrators. 

There were actually several activities for the entire weekend, including a production of "Three Sisters Dressed In Black"* on Friday night at the old CMS to The Montgomery Museum offering FREE admission to Alumni on Sunday, Aug 9 from 10:30-4:30 offering a display of assorted memorabilia relating to CHS/CMS activities.  The gathering was rather well attended with about 370 attendees from the 1930's to 2000's.  The Memorabilia Room was really interesting with black and white pictures, old cheer leading uniforms to some old CMS yearbooks from our class!

Mr. Ballengee announced a proclamation last night setting the 2nd Saturday in August as Christiansburg Alumni Return Day.  The next reunion will be August 14, 2010.  This is not intended to replace individual reunions - we are encouraged to plan our own events as a class, but this is an opportunity to meet other friends/teachers  from other classes and to bring Christiansburg Alumni together as a community. 

The group hopes to build on the weekend to possibly include a golf tournament, tour of new facilities to whatever last night attendees may offer.  If you have any questions, contact  the CAR Committee at PO Box 1401 Christiansburg VA 24068.

With the small group of us gathering earlier in the day for lunch, and finishing with visiting friends I had not seen in 15 or more years - it was a great day!
