I just finished reading a YA (young adult) book called The Hunger Games, and the second book in the series, Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins.   WOW.  Could not put it down.  Stayed up later than I should to finish each one in a day.

Think "The Running Man" for younger kids -- where teenagers are the participants in a battle to the death.  The government forces participation in this as a reminder to all of the districts about the uprising, when the government came in and wiped out large portions of the population as punishment.

I don't want to say anymore about it and ruin anything -- but unfortunately, you'll have to wait until this summer for the third and final book in the series to come out.  Several other women in my book club have read this and LOVED it as well, also staying awake into the wee-hours of the morning because they couldn't put it down!!  Yes, it's written for teens -- but who says their parents can't enjoy it too?!
