Loss of a Great Educator
Mike Swift
A memorial honoring Mr. Swift took place at his father's namesake, Swift Stadium, at the campus of CPHS on April 10, 2005. Mr. Swift passed away on March 20, 2005. He was 58 Years Young.
My memories of Mr. Swift were plenty and funny. He allowed me to readthe daily bulletin at the start of 4th period...He was fun and a fair teacher. I had Mr. Swift at CP Junior High as well...He will be missed.

memory,,Mr Swift was at the Jr High and I had him there..one day one of the students said "chicken s**t"..and of course we all got into saying she said "chickens chick" instead,,so the whole class period was like a court room and we had a mini trial,,forget the lesson,,that was a fun day ! I think Alma was delivering something to the classroom and she was wearing a poodle skirt..50's day at school,,and so he even called her back into the class ! I think it was Alma,,but then again,,I am over 45..lol !Debra Rosales (Valdes-Russell)
If I remember correctly, Mr. Swift was one of the soccer coaches at the high school. He was fun and energetic, and outgoing....which is why neighboring towns surrounding CPHS heard the GASP heard round the county when he married the Women's Studies teacher....can't recall her name just yet, but she seemed to be teaching the girls to be ANTI-MALE, independent women, when the announcement that she and Mr. Swift were going to be married....HOLY SOCCER BALLS!! It seemed that after they married she eased up on her attitude about men in class. But it did explain why she showed the soccer team memebers special attention....HOW CONFUSING it was to sit in her class!!Rebecca Alfaro
I was one of Mike's TA's and am very saddened to hear of his passing. He was a great TEACHER and caring mentor.
