FORMER SJS STAR RECEIVER LIGGINS DIES AT 31 Services were held Monday in Modesto for Guy Liggins, San Jose State's all-time leading receiver, who died Friday at 31. Liggins' professional career with the 49ers was cut short after two exhibition games in 1989 because of heart problems. He suffered a stroke Jan. 27 and was hospitalized at Central California Rehabilitation Hospital in Modesto where he died. The cause of death was announced as a massive heart attack.
