(Compadre) Joel Duran, My best friend since the 4th grade, Harborside Elementry God Father to my Daughter Mayrita. So many good memories with Joey since childhood. Nickname (Chona) When we were little, we grew up together as brothers, and remained family. Very honest person with a great deal of integrity!! Loyal!!!!!! I admire him for his will to face adversity, until the very end, never heard him complain. I love you Joey, and I am sorry I didn't say I Love you enough, or visit you as much as I could, or Be there for you in your hardest times as you were always there for me in my worst times. You taught me that no problem is too difficult, that the impossible is possible and you left this world as a role model for me! I speak for those who know you, we miss you dearly!!!!!!

Joel left a wonderful women behind his widow,
Laura Duran, whom never left his side in his worst moments facing diabetes. Very few of us will be lucky enough to have a women half as good as Joey's wife.

Tu Compadre quien te ama y un dia los veremos ahi en el cielo mi fiel amigo!!!!!

I do remember Joel from high school and was very sad to find out he has passed on. He was a very nice guy from what I remember. My prayers are to his family and loved ones.

Joe dog My kids and I miss you. My kids remember how u would go out of your way and bring them candy from Mexico when ever you could. If i can biggy back on what David posted about a great man who was handed a very hard card in life but not once did i hear him complain. Joey lost his eyesight during his battle with diabetes but he learned to live with it and would show up at my shop in Chula Vista on his own. Joey worked with what he was given and made the best of it.

Joey showed me how important life is and how furtunate we are for having it and having great people around us. Joey was very fortunate to have a great women in his life. Laura was incredible and gave Joey the best care possible. Joey you are missed greatly, and knowing you made me a better father husband and a friend Love you brother.
