Andrew Vilaboy, 38

RAMONA - Andrew "Andy" Vilaboy, 38, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001.

Born April 16, 1963, in National City, he lived in Ramona for eight years.

He graduated from Hilltop High School, where he had been the defensive captain of the football team.

He went to the baseball Little League finals as a catcher and to the Judo National Championships.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a platoon leader. He worked for Superior Ready Mix Concrete for several years when he was involved in an industrial accident that left him a quadriplegic.

Mr. Vilaboy is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lisa and Craig Tieck of Ramona; daughter Andi Vilaboy of Chula Vista; brother Kenneth Vilaboy of Santee; grandmother Carmen Portela of Ramona; grandfather Mariano Sanchez of National City; niece Jennifer Vilaboy of Ramona; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial services were held at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Raymond Humphries officiating.

A private cremation has taken place.
