Carmen would have been somebody great as a full grown man. I know he drowned, and if memory serves me correctly(which it may not) I believe he died just before we graduated. I remember one of our saddest days at Cicero High School was when his death was announced. Many of our classmates got together and spelled out CARMEN on the front lawn of our school in flowers. It was  truly a great loss for all of us. He was one of the most popular classmates of our Class of '72 and was greatly missed.

Carmen was a good friend of mine, we had classes together and played lacrosse. I remember the afternoon when I was at lacrosse practice and Carmen was absent which surprised me since he faithfully attended practice. As I was on the field, a number of emergency vehicles sped past with their sirens wailing - little did I know they were going to try to save Carmen. I visited his mother after his death and I could see the grief on her face - we deeply loved Carmen and missed him. "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His godly ones." (Psalm 116:15)
