In Memory

Keith Schatzman

Keith A. Schatzman, of Anderson Township, OH, passed away at home with his beloved wife Judy (Sibert) at his side.

Keith and Judy married in 1971 and resided for 45 years in Anderson Township.

Keith, the eldest of six children, was born on November 19, 1952, to Roger (Bud) and Connie Schatzman (nee Rossi) in Cincinnati Ohio. As a boy, Keith enjoyed many outdoor hobbies with his siblings and friends. He excelled in baseball and played from dawn to dusk as often as he was able. His lifelong work ethic began early with a paper route as a boy. Those of us that were lucky to have known Keith are certain that each newspaper that he ever delivered was perfectly creased and placed at a ninety-degree angle on each customer’s porch. Keith’s pursuit of hard work continued not just with early jobs but scholastically as well. He graduated from Glen Este High School in 1971. While in high school, Keith worked at Frisch’s where he met the love of his life and wife of almost 53 years, Judy Sibert.

Keith and Judy married in 1971 and eventually welcomed their daughter Trisha in 1974. Keith cherished his daughter, and along with Judy raised her with the same values and work ethic that they both possessed. Keith enjoyed coaching and was involved in many of Trisha’s basketball and softball teams as she grew up.

After graduating from high school, Keith eventually embarked on a 35-year career at NuTone in Cincinnati, OH. Keith worked his way up to eventually becoming managing supervisor. He retired in 2007 leaving behind many people that he was proud to call friends and began a long and well-earned retirement.

Keith enjoyed many hobbies as an adult, but perhaps none so more than playing golf. He was an avid golfer that played almost every week with a group of great friends for many years. Keith spoke often about how much he enjoyed playing in his weekly game with his group and how much they meant to him. He more than once referred to them as additional brothers. On the golf course, he was always very tickled when he was able to break 80 (which he did frequently). Perhaps his most memorable shot occurred in 2014 when he accomplished something that very few golfers ever do. Keith had a hole in one at Friendly Meadows on a difficult par 3 (#3 at 185 yards). As a matter of fact, Keith proudly shares this rare feat with his daughter Trisha. She also had a hole in one in 2023 at Hickory Woods Golf Course. There is a photo of Keith and Trisha holding a commemorative flag that she was awarded by the wonderful folks at Hickory Woods. In it, Keith is absolutely beaming with pride.

Keith and Judy enjoyed traveling. They made frequent trips throughout each year to some of their favorite places. They also made a number of trips with their daughter and son in law to celebrate milestones in their lives or simply to enjoy one another’s company in various recreational pursuits.

Keith also enjoyed yard work and took great pride in keeping a beautiful yard. He did this with consistent efforts of weeding, trimming, mowing, and cultivating both annual and perennial flowers. A leaf or a stick that fell to the ground on Keith’s lawn would not be there for long. Having a beautiful home and yard would not have meant as much to Keith if he wasn’t able to share it. He and Judy routinely opened up their home for countless barbecues and pool parties.

His canine companions were dear to him. Throughout his adult life he and Judy enjoyed the faithful company of a number of dogs and one “stray” cat including Whitney, Sarah, Kitty, Baby, and most recently Sammie. Like several of Keith and Judy’s dogs, Sammie is a rescue. Sammie became Keith’s shadow, and she brought tremendous joy to the household.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Roger Schatzman and brother Gary Schatzman.

He is survived by wife Judy (Sibert) Schatzman, daughter Trisha (Schatzman) Haemmerle, Mother Connie Schatzman, son in law Scott Haemmerle, and siblings Debbie (Richard) Heath, Bruce (Carla) Schatzman, Cheryl (Jay) Singleton, Scott (Sherry) Schatzman and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a pet rescue organization of your choosing.

Friends and family are invited to gather at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, Amelia on Friday, March 1st, from 9:00 – 11:00 for a visitation, the service will follow at 11:00. Following the service, a graveside service will be held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Anderson Center starting at 1:00 PM in Anderson Township.
