Sterling Stamper

I was in several of Bill's classes over the years but never really got to know him until our Junior year when we played basketball for Blue Ash Baptist Church.  During practice Bill was a clown but come game time he was a very serious player.  We had a really good team because of Bill.  He was fun to be around.

I did not know Bill well.  He always seemed a bit guarded and unapproachable to me.  The irony is that he was warm, friendly and almost welcoming whenever you engaged.him.  

His blossoming talent with a paint brush should be remembered.  From his first painitings, his work grew more detailed and his technique continued to improve, until his later works were simply amazing.  I was surprised that he displayed his work on Facebook and pleased for him at the same time.  As far as I know, Bill was completely self-taught

I was always crazy about motorcycles and it was Bill who gave me my very first bike ride.  I remember it as though it were yesterday.

Bill was also a Viet Nam vet and I would be willing to bet that he was a damn good soldier.

I will miss knowing that Bill is no longer around, even though I saw him only twice since we graduated from Sycamore.  And thinking about him now, I know that in keeping his disease to himself, he was just being Bill Reed.

I came to Sycamore in my sophmore year. I knew no one until Bill made contact with me and we started to hang out together. We double dated several times, hung out football/basketball games and then ended up at Frisch's. I was also introduced to beer and cigarettes and we went  to a camp ground on Hunt Road where I did not fair well with beer drinking. I felt lousy the next morning and swore that would never happen again, but it did numerous times thereafter. Oh the memories of hanging out with Bill. He was a good friend and we had some great times together. Rest in peace my friend!

Bill was an outstanding individual and good friend! Bill and I did some singing together in my ole garage on Maynard Drive off Conklin Road! I was playing guitar and singing an Everly Brothers song all I have to do is dream and Bill joined right in! We never hit it big time but we enjoyed it! We also played on the same Basketball team with Sterling Stamper and Larry Womack! Bill had a lot of talent singing playing Basketball and his Art work was tremendous!  We also did some running Round together after High School day’s before both of us got caught up in the Army! But we had some good times together and he was always a lot of fun to be with! Until we see each other again Bill, Rest In Peace,your Tour of Duty is over! No more helo ventures into the Mountains or the A Shau Out Of Camp Eagle!
