I ran into Phillip from time to time when I still lived in Cincy and we enjoyed "catching up" every time. We had gone all thru school together and shared many memories. I am so sorry to hear he is gone. What a dear person.
When I received Nancy's message about Phil, I replied to her that evening with the same phrase Marcia used--"gentle soul". I also said "we didn't know each other at WH but since talking at a reunion 35 years ago we have always felt a common spirit. When I told Phil I'd have to miss this year's reunion because it conflicted with Coach Giacometti's 100th birthday celebration, he told me he wouldn't be able to attend because of illness. I was deeply sorry for him."
I want to pass along remarks Dr. Arno Penzias, former CEO of Bell Laboratories and Nobel Prize winner in physics, made at a college graduation many years ago. He said "Recently I turned 65 and have wondered how much longer I have to live. Obviously, I don't know the answer but what I do know is I have 100% of the rest of my life, and I respect that." As I grow older, Penzias' comment continues to be very significant for me.
I, also, was very sad to learn about Phil's death. I think of him as a very sincere, friendly buddy, whom I was always glad to see. I will try to focus on my good memories of him.

Phil was a gentle soul with a sweet. understated sense of humor. He liked to tell people that he and
I had one date during high school. As though that was a major accomplishment!!! I called him
during the 2019 reunion in Cinti and he sounded down. With limited mobility.
I had no idea, though, that his death might be imminent.
He was also a very spiritual person. I hope that helped to sustain him as he passed on.

So sad to hear of Phil's passing. Such a compassionate and kind soul. I didn't know he was sick. I hope he didn't suffer. R.I.P. friend 😥>
