After graduating from WHHS, he attended DePauw University and, upon graduation, he entered the USAF where he served two terms in VietNam in the Air Police. He was stationed at Luke AFB upon his return and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He then pursued his dream of becoming a history teacher but died in the Tucson Veterans Hospital before realizing his dream. He was 35 years old.
I remember Joel as if yesterday. Throughout our years at WHHS, he and I always sat close to each other since his last name started with a "T" and my last name was Voss. Joel was funny, polite, modest and an all around wonderful person. I will always remember Joel.
