James A. Getz

Getz, James “Jim”, age 80, passed away November 11, 2023. Jim was the loving husband of 52 years to wife Laura (Berger), father to Todd and Jacqueline (Ethan) Paglino. Beloved Brother to Ann (Marc) Mezibov and Brother-in-Law to Richard (Sharon) Berger. Uncle to Jonathan (Lisa) Mezibov, Paige (David) Silver, Blair (Jenna) Mezibov, Cory Berger, and Cole Berger. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Ruth (Stark) Getz and his beloved grandmother Rose “Nana” Stark. 

Jim was a lifelong Cincinnatian, graduating from the University of Cincinnati and Woodward High School and member of Isaac M. Wise Temple. He served as the President of Getz Jewelers for over 40 Years and contributed to the Cincinnati Business Community as a member of YPO (Young President’s Association), Board Member of the Better Business Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce Honoree as Businessman of the Year.

Jim had a passion for creativity, which he showed through jewelry design, woodworking, and music. Jim’s passion for music and singing started in high school, where his Doo Wop group the Strangers in Town performed across Cincinnati and toured Europe.

Funeral Service 11:15am, Tuesday, Nov 14th at Weil Kahn Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Visitation 7:00-8:30PM, Tuesday Nov 14th at Wise Temple, 8329 Ridge Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45236.

Virginia (Cooki) Sevester (Thier)

Jimmy and I painted the 40 ft sign that hung over the auditorium doors each Friday during art class. We had some good laughs.  I saw him up until a few years ago in Anderson and at Costco.
