Sadly, Steve passed away the weekend before the 4th of July. 2023.
A grave-side service for the immediate family was held, followed by a celebration of Steve's life at the Blue Ash Recreation Center.
Members of the Blue Ash American Legion attended and gave Steve a moving tribute for his service and dedication.
Although a few classmates have noticed Steve's profile moving to this "In Memory" page, we delayed sending an email to all classmates at that time at the request of the family.
May Steve's memory be a blessing.

I just was in the process of wishing Stephen our traditional L'Shana Tovah greeting when I learned of the sad news. We have been close Friends for many years ( since Woodward and Sunday School ) .
Spent a lot of quality time together during our 50th.
We communicated for every special occasion. We last "touched base " at the end of May 2023.
I wasn't aware he was ill.
What a wonderful person . I truely lost another good friend.

Veterans could always expect a note from Steven each year. Something small asking how you are doing. A thank you on Nov 11th. But he would tank me on the 10th too. And, asking how the family was doing. He sought me out at the 50th, and we chatted for a long time with others Friday night. Had to laugh. I had made duplicates of an original Pep Club pin Mr Tschofen(sp) gave to me. I had faceted some London Blue Topaz and the rest in Spinel as gifts set in silver and a couple in gold. He was just happy to get one. However, I was looking at the badge, he did not know it had a gemstone set instead of the basketball. 2 were freebies put in the basket full of them. Glad he got one of the 2.

I am deeply saddened about Steve's passing. The last time I saw him was at our 50th reunion. I will miss the beautiful, thoughtful, caring, eloquently written messages he used to write to my husband and me. Steve would always thank John for his service. In addition, he sent us the most warm L'Shana Tova messages. I will miss him.

I was so sorry to hear about Steve's passing. He was such a great, thoughtful and caring person. I looked forward to receiving his e-mails during the holidays and other important events. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

I was saddened to hear of Steve's passing as we had been in touch for the past several year. I first met Steve in band as we played the same instrument. The highlight of our band careers was playing for the Cleveland Browns during our junior year. Steve and I were even roommates that weekend in Cleveland.
We talk occasionally of the great experiences through the years and the hard work and dedication that we received under the direction of Mr Wolfe, our band director. Steve sent me birthday wishes as well as a Thank You for my military service.
We planned on meeting last year for lunch, the next time my job brought me to Cincinnati but I had a major medical issue and was put on medical leave. Steve's compassion was felt during my recovery as he passed on words of encouragement. You will be missed by so many that your thoughtfulness and caring touched.

He was the manager of the concession stand at the Blue Ash Park on nights when they had concerts. This was strictly a volunteer job but he loved serving the Blue Ash community. He was also very devoted to the Army. after he served, being involved in several VFW's. He was so respectful of all the branches of the military and talked fondly on a regular basis of his dear friend and fellow classmate Eddie Kanter.
We would often over the years meet at the Blue Ash summer concerts. He had given up his managing position at the concession stand once Covid hit, but very recently we had decided to enjoy another Tuesday night concerts together again. Sadly, I still have his email from late June confirming we would meet at the next concert. Unfortunately it never happened because of rain. We were going to reschedule but unfortunately he passed away before we could finalize our plans.
Steve, you have been such a caring and loving friend to so many, never forgetting birthdays, the Jewish New Year and especially Memorial Day and Vwterans Day. Steve, yiur unique thoughtfulness will be missed by many! I am just so happy that you considered me a good friend. May your memory be for a blessing!
