Nancy Osborn Kern, 70, died at home in Edgewood, KY after a long illness.
She was an active volunteer for Heart to Heart Radio Ministry, Blessed Sacrament Church, St. Maximillian Kolbe Church and St. Peter and Paul Church in Cincinnati, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ora Violette Osborn and her son-in law Kevin Timmerding.
She leaves her husband of 48 years, Michael E. Kern of Edgewood, KY; her daughter Erin Timmerding of Crestview Hills, KY; her sons Kevin Kern(Megan) of Maplewood, N.J., Joey Kern (Gillian) of Los Angeles, CA; her grandchildren: Owen, Ella, Theo, Lila, Annie, Maeve Timmerding, August, Sunshine, Magnolia, Clover, Lilifaye Kern; herbrother, Cecil "Butch" Osborn (Barbara).
Visitation will be on Wednesday October 18, 2017 from 5 P.M.- 6:45 P.M at Blessed Sacrament Church 2409 Dixie Highway Ft. Mitchell, KY.
Mass of Christian will follow at 7 P.M. at the church.
A reception will follow the Mass in the undercroft at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:00AM.

So sorry to hear of Nancy passing. She was such a great friend in Junior High at Woodward. We sent a many Friday night at the Hartwell Dances. Condonences to her family. Please let your grief of Nancy passing be absort with happy memories.

To Michael Kern and your entire family. I knew of Nancy passing thru the halls of Woodward. I still picture her infectious smile. When I see the picture of the two of you surrounded by 7 beautiful grandchildren, I think how lucky you were to be part of each other's lives.

With many from '65 there are only the wonderful memories, but Nancy reentered our lives when first Kevin and then Joey attended St. X.
Nancy had married the neatest guy and we had many encounters with them at X when the boys brought their talents to our theater productions.
We hadn't seen as much of Nancy and her husband once the boys had graduated so reunion time two years ago was a great time to reunite.
She was first class. I was so proud of the woman she had become.
Certainly Marcia and I will attend Wednesday's Mass.

"Marcia and I attended Nancy Osborn Kern's funeral. The church was packed, but we had time to talk to her husband, the two boys I knew at St. X and her daughter who lost her husband to cancer in January (their oldest son is a freshman at St. X this year).

I was able to attend the visitation for Nancy. Upon arriving, I was confused if there were two functions. Looking to see where Nancy's visitation was being held I was told it was all for Nancy Kern. I quickly thought, this was what I would see for a dignitary. And so, that was what Nancy was to so many people. Just as she had been one of our Cheerleaders at Woodward, she must have been to those attending her celebration of life. The girl who could be found playing in the Mill Creek as a kid or attending the Friday night dances at Hartwell park was being honored for touching so many during her life.
I related several stories about Nancy to her sons, husband and her brother Cecil. The short version of one story was that us boys would tease girls and Nancy had beautiful pigtails at Hartwell. You might try to pull one of her tails except you would not have dared to with Nancy. She could run faster than us boys in recess so you did not attempt to make her mad. And without fear or hesitation, she could put a knot on your head in short order. But most important, Nancy was so sweet and genuine that it would be foolish to agonize her.
There really were people to watch and learn from who did not seek to be popular, best dressed or the prettiest face. Nancy was always just Nancy. No airs, no pretence and pure honesty who lived in the love of her friends and family. How would you know that, it was seen from one end of the block to the other end as it overflowed with parking space at a premium.

I just read the booklet of Nancy's life that Paul Hendrick attached (thank you Paul for doing that). It really demonstrates a life well lived. It made me sad that Nancy was taken from us so soon, but happy for her that she lived such a wonderful life. I remember what a nice, kind person Nancy was. You will be truly missed.
